Notes This obit came from the Lois Stanford British Home Child Collection - ....................... .Mrs.M.E.Kay....Funeral services were held September 3rd for Mary Ellen Kay,a long time resident of Merrickville.Mrs.Kay,89,died on August 31st at the West End Ville nursing home in Ottawa,where she had been living for two years. Mrs.Kay was born in Durham City,England,on September 4th 1884, the daughter of William Henry Burn and Mary Ellen Smith. She married the late Thomas Kay i 1907,and moved with him to Merrickville in 1929. The Kays remained in Merrickville for about 40 years except for a four-year residence in Montreal.The service for Mrs.Kay, a member of the United Church,was conducted by Reverend Kempling at 1:30 in the chapel of the Lannins Funeral Home. Interment took place at Union Cemetery in Merrickville.Pallbearers were Gordon Whaley, NULL,John Harrison,Olaf Mattla,Omar Burchill,Arnold Connerty and Barnett Quackenbush.Mrs.Kay is surviived by two daughters: Mrs.Jean Wright and Mrs.Doris Girard of Montreal and three sons,Bill Kay of Merrickville,Henry Kay of Ottawa and Thomas Kay of Chemainus,B.C.
